Pretty much all they had left was fancy steak, so you can guess what was for dinner:

That's right! Steak and eggs!

That’s not bad

many supermarkets are completely out of all chicken and beef, save for a couple steaks, almost totally out of produce as well

When I got into work on Saturday night. I walked down the fresh meat aisle, the chicken, all sold out, beef mince, all but a dozen packets, pork pretty much the same, a few beef steaks and sausages, turkey however looked untouched. Crazy.

Frozen pizza aisle. Never seen it so empty.

8 pallets 6-7ft high for 7 aisles and we will probably sell out again. (Normal is 3-4) And this is in a county with no confirmed cases for over 3 weeks

I’m dreading shopping. People are going to be panicking even more, seeing as my governor just compared this to World War II...

My cousin took these pics in the Seattle area yesterday. Bread, canned meat, cereal, wiped out :

I went to a store today.  Pasta was wiped clean, paper goods almost barren, and any type of sanitizing hand soap lol.

RIP anyone working minimum wage jobs at ungodly hours. There should honestly be hazard pay for people working grocery, distribution/freight, and medical.

Indeed. I heard Amazon increased hourly wages by a couple dollars for those in that chaos. It’s the thought that counts.

I went to the store this morning (6am, I need normal stuff, wanted to avoid drama), plenty of workers there already. I had half a mind to drop a $5 bill to a few of them and just say “thanks” - they are doing a lot to keep things g oing right now.

If you’re gonna have supply problems, this on the one to have.

I was surprised how much had changed in under a week. Last week I had gone to a store on Wednesday and while all of the water and TP were already long gone, everything else was pretty much in stock. Then I stopped in on Sunday and was glad that I had already picked up bread and butter on the last trip because those were entirely gone on Sunday. Most shelves were VERY empty as well, not just the things that always disappear. Its interesting to see this happen in Socal because we dont get hurricanes and blizzards. Those were things on the East coast I was used to dealing with this buffoonery. But that was also justified usually due to roads being shut down closing off supplies, tap water being unsafe to drink, and it being dangerous just to drive anywhere. Right now this is all nonsense because there is no immediate danger. And if anything, going to the store is the only real danger anyways because all the people are there.

E verybody is pulling together w ork wise, I’ve shifted my schedule to show up an hour earlier at 3am to get more done before customers start showing up. Obviously our store cant be bothered to pay us more, but there is OT being drizzled around.(can you sense my disdain)

The real hero of this whole thing is our lord and saviour; Coffee.

You’re doing heroic work. As you mentioned, people in the grocery ecosystem along with customer-facing medical and I might add take- out restaurants are doing a lot to keep society together right now.

Steak and eggs are so great.

If you like eggs with runny yolks, it’s also great with a fried or poached egg.

Which illustrates the tightrope politicians are walking right now. Make any attempt to put a brave/optimistic face on it, and you’re not taking it seriously enough . Say something really dramatic and scary, and you incite further panic. Maybe we should just  agree to drop all spin and hyperbole and stick purely to unemotional vetted facts. Which is probably too much to ask, admittedly.

I needed my regular bi weekly groceries today and it was slim pickings. State liquor stores are closed indefinitely starting tomorrow but thankfully the store on base is open during these trying times.

This was the only section of the store that was really cleaned out too. S ome of the things like pasta, cereal, rice, and frozen pizzas were more picked over than usual, but the meat section was the only one wiped clean.
